Ingredients need to make the butter curry recipe

  • 1 cup masoor dal with peel
  • 1/2 cup curd
  • 2-3 tbsp gram flour
  • 1 tsp Onion, cut into pieces
  • 2-3 sprigs of curry leaves
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 whole red chilies, a pinch of turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for tempering

Method of making butter curry recipe

  1. Wash and soak the lentils overnight.
  2. Next day cook the dal in a pressure cooker with salt. Keep aside.
  3. Put curd, gram flour, turmeric, cumin, coriander powder, and salt in a bowl. Add water and mix. Keep aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and add red chili and mustard seeds. Let it crackle.
  5. Add onion and curry leaves and fry till the color of the onion becomes transparent.
  6. Add boiled dal and mix for some time.
  7. Finally, add buttermilk and boil for 5 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle finely chopped coriander leaves (optional) and serve.
