Ingredients need to make shevga dal masala recipe

  • 1 cup urad dal
  • 2 medium drumsticks
  • cut into 5 cm pieces
  • 10-15 curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 2 green chilies, cut into pieces
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic, chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • ONE tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric pinch
  • Asafoetida Fenugreek
  • Salt to taste

Method of making shevga dal masala recipe

  1. Wash and soak the lentils for some time (better one hour).
  2. In a pressure cooker, add soaked lentils, drumstick pieces, onion, ginger garlic, chili, and some curry leaves.
  3. Pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles.
  4. Let the pressure release naturally, now add a pinch of kasoori methi to the dal.
  5. Heat ghee in a pan, when hot add asafoetida, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves.
  6. Heat for a few seconds and make sure not to burn it.
  7. Pour ghee over it and close the lid. After a minute or two, open the lid and serve hot.
