For Dosa:

  • 1 cup samak rice
  • 3 tbsp Singhare flour
  • rock salt to taste
  • Ghee for frying


  • 2 boiled potatoes, mashed
  • 2 tbsp desi ghee
  • Rock salt to taste
  • Whole red chili
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp ginger, cut into pieces
  • One tsp green chili, cut into pieces
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped

Method of making samak dosa recipe

  1. Soak the sama rice for 15-20 minutes. Filter it to make a thick batter (not very fine). Now mix water chestnut flour in the prepared batter and keep it at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  2. Soak the chilies with little water and grind them finely.
  3. Heat ghee in a frying pan, add cumin seeds when chopped ginger and green chilies start crackling.
  4. Add mashed boiled potatoes and fry well. Add turmeric powder, red chili paste, and rock salt.
  5. Add chopped coriander leaves. Remove and keep aside. Now, heat a non-stick pan.
  6. Put a ladle full of dosa batter in the center of the pan and spread it like a round disc with the help of a ladle.
  7. Let it cook by sprinkling oil.
  8. Spread potato stuffing on it, fold the dosa in half in the shape of a half-moon, and serve it hot with coconut and peanut chutney.
