  • 500 gms chicken pieces
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • One cinnamon stick
  • 1-star anise
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns
  • 2-3 green cardamoms
  • 1 cup Onion, chopped
  • One tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 or 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 2 tbsp Chana/gram flour
  • 1 tbsp soaked poppy seeds
  • 1/2 cup tomatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup chicken stock

Method of making chicken banjara kebab recipe

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cinnamon stick, fennel, black pepper, green cardamom, bay leaf, dry red chili, and chopped onion.
  2. Fry the onion till it becomes transparent.

For marination

  1. Put chicken in a bowl, add ginger-garlic paste, hung curd, garam masala, red chili powder, turmeric powder. Mix everything well!

For Chana Paste

  1. Make a paste by grinding roasted gram with poppy seeds without water.
  2. After grinding a little, add water and grind again until a smooth and consistent paste is obtained.
  3. After this, add the marinated chicken with onions in the pan and mix well.
  4. Wait for 2-3 minutes, then add tomatoes, salt, chicken stock/water and let it cook for 25-30 minutes.
  5. Add chana paste and cook on high flame for 5-6 minutes.
  6. Serve with chapati or rice, the choice is yours!
