Steamed veg suji roll recipe: You must have eaten a lot of rolls but you must have tasted them all the same. This is because the rolls are mostly made from flour or maida. But today the role of which we are going to tell you is made with semolina. So let's know how to make semolina wedge rolls.

Necessary ingredients need to make steamed veg suji roll

For doe

  • Semolina - 1 cup
  • Curd - ½ cup
  • Salt - ½ tsp
  • Baking Soda - 4 teaspoons

For stuffing

  • Capsicum - ½ cup (finely chopped)
  • Cauliflower - ½ cup (grated)
  • Carrot - 4 cups (grated)
  • Green Mirch - 1 teaspoon (finely chopped)
  • Ginger paste - ½ tsp
  • Black pepper - 4 tsp
  • Salt - 4 teaspoons
  • Green coriander - 1-2 tbsp (finely chopped)

For tempering

  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 4 teaspoons
  • White sesame - ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves - 10 to 12

Method of making steamed veg suji roll

  1. To prepare semolina veg rolls, prepare the dough first. 
  2. To make the dough, add 1 ½ cup yogurt, ½ tsp salt, ⅛ tsp baking soda to 1 cup semolina (semolina should be fine. You can grind semolina finely by putting it in the mixer) and make the dough.
  3. Leave the doe for 10 minutes so that the doe flowers slightly. 
  4. After 10 minutes, apply a little oil in your hand and knead the dough to soften it and divide the dough into two parts and make two big balls.
  5. Now prepare the stuffing. For stuffing ½ cup finely chopped capsicum, ½ cup finely chopped cauliflower, ¼ cup grated carrots (vegetables you can have as well), ½ tsp ginger paste, ½ tsp black pepper, Add ¼ tsp salt, 1-2 tbsp finely chopped green coriander and mix well.
  6. Now take a ball and roll it into a thin rectangular shape. 
  7. When the sheet is formed, spread the pizza sauce on the sheet. 
  8. Now spread the prepared vegetables for stuffing evenly on the sheet. 
  9. Now roll the sheet well. Press the edges properly from both sides so that the stuffing does not come out.
  10. Now we will steam the rolls in a sieve. 
  11. To steam, grease the sieve with a little oil.
  12. Put 2 cups of water in a vessel and keep it on the gas. 
  13. When the water comes to a boil, put the roll in a sieve and keep it in the pot. (Place a mesh or plate under the sieve so that the sieve does not submerge in water). 
  14. Cover the pot and let the rolls steam for 15 minutes.
  15. After 15 minutes remove the rolls and let them cool down a bit. 
  16. Now cut the rolls into small pieces.
  17.  Now apply to temper. Heat oil in a pan to add the tempering. 
  18. Add ¼ tsp mustard seeds, ½ tsp white sesame seeds, and 10 to 12 curry leaves to the oil. 
  19. Now pour the tempering slightly on top of the rolls.
  20. The hot semolina wedge roll is ready to be served. 
  21. You can serve it with sauce or green chutney.

Suggestions for steamed veg suji roll

  • Do not add water at all while applying semolina dough.
  • If you want, you can also eat it without tempering. But applying Tadka increases its taste.
