Papad vegetable is one of the famous vegetables of Rajasthan. Papad vegetable is very easy to make, and it is made in a very short time. Its test is on mild sourness because we use curd tomatoes in it. 

If you are making it, then do not cook it when it is to be eaten, so the papad swells up to keep time and its test changes. So let’s see what we need to make papad vegetable and how it is made.

Materials need to make papad vegetables

  • Urad daal papad: 1
  • Oil: 3 teaspoons
  • Cumin seeds: 1 teaspoon
  • Bay leaf: 1
  • Mustard: 1 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida: 1 teaspoon
  • Onion puree: 1/2 cup
  • Tomato puree: 1/2 cup (2 tomatoes)
  • Coriander powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt: 1 cup (to taste)
  • Curd: 2 teaspoons
  • Garam masala: 1 teaspoon

Method of preparation of papad vegetable

  1. First, take a pan and add oil to it.
  2. Then add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida, and bay leaves and roast them till they become golden in color.
  3. Then add the whole onion and roast it.
  4. When the onion is fried, add tomato puree to it.
  5. And put coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder in it and roast it for 5 minutes.
  6. It takes some time to roast our masala, so till then, I fry papad.
  7. I am frying the papad here on gas, you can fry it either by adding a little oil in the pan or the pan.
  8. Our Masala is also roasted here and ready.
  9. Now add some water and mix it.

  11. Then add hot masala, curd, and flavored salt to it and cook it for 2-3 minutes.
  12. Then break the papad in it and also add chopped coriander leaves and turn off the gas.
  13. And our papad vegetable is ready, we will take it out in a serving bowl and our papad is ready as shabji.

Suggestion:-

  • If you are making a Shabji for the first time, then remember to add mustard oil to it, so do not panic.
  • If you want, you can fry the papad by adding some oil in the griddle or in the pan.
