Ingredients of Chicken Shahi Korma

  • 1 kg chopped chicken in 8 pieces
  • 1/2 cup ghee
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 cup onions, grated
  • Fry 2 tbsp and dried popped poppy seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Green chilies cut into 2-3 lengths
  • 1/4 cup mashed khoya paste in water
  • 10 cashew nuts
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp coconut, grated
To garnish:
  • 1/4 cup thick cream
  • 2 tablespoons green coriander leaves

Method of making Chicken Shahi Korma

  1. Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds.
  2. When the cumin starts crackling, add the onion and fry it till it becomes light brown.
  3. Now add the paste in it and fry it again until the oil separates.
  4. Increase the heat, add the chicken pieces, and fry it while stirring until it is completely covered with spices.
  5. Add turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, coriander powder, salt, and green chilies.
  6. Stir and mix well.
  7. Add 7.2 cups of water and paste of milk, let it come to a boil, and cook on low heat for 15 to 20 minutes until the chicken becomes soft.
  8. Garnish with cream and coriander and serve hot.
