Paneer do pyaza is an Indian vegetable that has a higher onion content than other ingredients. In this recipe, chopped onions are roasted with tomatoes and spices, which adds to the taste of the cheese.

Indian Paneer do pyaza Curry

Material need to make Paneer do pyaza

  • 100 grams of cottage cheese
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 green chili, cut out after cutting the seeds
  • 1 tsp Kasuri Methi
  • 3 medium-size tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp grated ginger
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, PC
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 Green Cardamom
  • 1 small piece bay leaves
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp sugar (if you want)
  • 1 tablespoon + 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cream
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped coriander
  • Salt, as per taste
  • 1/2 cup water

Method of making Paneer do pyaza

  1. Cut the paneer into square pieces of one inch. Finely chop one tomato and grind the remaining 2 tomatoes in a grinder to make a puree.
  2. Finely chop 1 onion. Separate the layers of the onion by making 4 equal pieces. Now heat 1 tbsp of oil in a non-stick pan and fry the onion layers until they turn light brown. Take them out on a plate.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in the same pan, add cumin seeds, green cardamom, and bay leaves and let them sizzle. 
  4. Add chopped onion.
  5. Fry it till it turns light brown.
  6. Add grated ginger, powdered garlic, and green chilies and fry for 1 minute.
  7. Add the ground tomato puree and chopped tomatoes and fry them till the oil starts separating.
  8. Add kasoori methi, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, sugar, and salt, mix well and cook for a minute.
  9. Add the paneer pieces, roasted onions, and 1/2 cup of water and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  10. Add fresh cream and mix well and turn off the gas.
  11. Take out the prepared vegetables in a serving bowl and garnish with coriander and serve.

  • You can make the vegetable spicy according to your taste by reducing the amount of red chili powder and green chilies in the vegetable.
  • This easy vegetable of Paneer do pyaza uses sugar to reduce the sour taste of tomatoes. If you do not like the slightest sweetness in the vegetable, then you can avoid adding sugar.
