Ingredients for Idli Upma

  • 5 leftover idli 
  • 3 t spoon vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds 
  • 1/4 tsp urad dal
  • 1/4 tsp chana dal 
  • 2-3 whole red chilies
  • A sprig of curry leaves 
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 
  • Salt

How to make Idli Upma

  1. First of all, crush idli by hand and grind it into small pieces.
  2. Now heat oil in a deep vessel, add urad, mustard seeds, whole red chilies, curry leaves, and gram dal and cook on low flame.
  3. Then once these things get cracked and the dal turns golden brown then add turmeric and onion to it, which will give it a nice color.
  4. Now add idli and salt as per taste and fry it for a while. (You should keep in mind that if there is already salt in the idli, then add a little salt).
  5. Serve hot at the end.
